Gentamicin is indicated for treating gastrointestinal and respiratory infections caused by gentamicin-sensitive bacteria, including E. coli, Klebsiella, Pasteurella, and Salmonella spp. in calves, cattle, goats and sheep.
For intramuscular administration
Administer 1 ml per 10 - 20 kg body weight twice daily for three days.
Avoid administering gentamicin to animals with a known hypersensitivity to the drug or those with severe hepatic and/or renal impairment. Concurrent use with nephrotoxic substances is contraindicated.
Potential side effects include hypersensitivity reactions. Prolonged or high-dose administration may lead to neurotoxicity, ototoxicity, or nephrotoxicity.
For kidneys: 45 days.
For meat: 7 days.
For milk: 3 days.
