Indications

Muscular tears, stretching or miosotis in animals intended exclusively for sporting activity.
Methocarbamol is widely used as a muscle relaxant in dogs, cats and horses. Methocarbamol has been proven effective in a wide range of disorders involving acute muscle spasm. In horses, Methocarbamol is typically used for various conditions including muscle soreness, trauma, bursitis, muscle and ligament damage, and other conditions that cause painful muscle spasms, including surgery.

Administration and Dosage

Equines: 5 - 25 mg/kg. Slowly inhale per day. In cases of tetanus: 25 - 50 mg/kg per day. Repeat every 24 hours until Maximum: 14 to 21 days. Tolerance up to: 400 mg/kg has been demonstrated. Route of application: slow intravenous.
Methocarbamol Injectable 100 mg/ml 100 ml usual dose for horses is 2 to 10 mg per lb for moderate conditions and 10 to 25 mg per lb for severe conditions. This medication is for I.V. use and may be given undiluted directly into a vein. Dosage and frequency of injection should be based on the severity of symptoms and on the therapeutic response seen.

Target Animals

Sport and working horses and camels.

Side Effects

Methocarbamol may cause a discoloration of the urine. Talk to your veterinarian about any side effects that seem unusual or bothersome to the animal. If any of the following serious side effects occur, stop giving your pet Methocarbamol and seek emergency veterinary medical attention: an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, swelling of the lips, tongue or face, and hives).

Store below 30°C. Protect from light.
