MODE OF ACTION:
The mode of action is inhibition of protein synthesis by binding to 30S ribosomal subunit of microorganisms that susceptible to
oxytetracycline, thereby
preventing the connection between ribosomes and aminoacyl-tRNA. It’s also believed that oxytetracycline inversely connects with 50S ribosomes and changing the permeability of the cytoplasmic membrane of the sensitive microorganisms. Oxytetracycline, at high concentrations, can also inhibit protein synthesis in cells.
