The combination of lincomycin and spectinomycin acts additive and in some cases synergistic. Spectinomycin acts bacteriostatic or bactericidal, depending on the dose, against mainly Gram-negative bacteria like Campylobacter, E. coli, Salmonella spp. and Mycoplasma. Lincomycin acts bacteriostatic against mainly Gram-positive bacteria like Staphylococcus and Streptococcus spp. and Mycoplasma. Cross-resistance of lincomycin with macrolides can occur.
